Another Surgery!

This time it's not me. Grant's been having back pain for at least a year now, we just thought he had injured himself a couple of times, but it's gotten worse and worse. He's been in the E.R. a few times the last couple of months because the pain was so bad and he's legs were going numb. They finally did an MRI and he has a benign tumor on his spain at the base of his lower back. The good news is it's not cancer, but the location of this growth is problematic because it's pushing on some pretty important nerves. They're going to do surgery on Thursday, take out a piece of one of his vertabrate, and get the tumor out. There isn't a huge risk of paralysis or nerve damage, but some, and I just wish they didn't have to do this. It seems like one back surgery leads to more back surgerys. I've done a lot of research and talked to several different doctors, and we really don't have any other good options. They did offer some cortisone shots to him, but it wasn't a fix, just delaying the inevitable, so Grant felt strongly that we should just go ahead with the surgery. So the surgery is this Thursday.

Honestly, I'm tired and frustrated. I've had it with doctors, hospitals, and tumors. The recovery's going to be quite painful, and he'll probably be out of work for at least a couple of months. It's just horrible timing. Hello! I had a baby less than 6 months ago! We're scared and nervous and really I've been having quite the pitty party this week.

But in the end I know everything will be okay. Whatever happens, it will be okay. We have wonderful amazing family and friends. And we have a loving, understanding, and always forgiving heavenly father who lets me have my temper tantrums and then kindly guides me through!

Grant is a wonderful person who has held my hand through 2 cancers, preganancy, and childbirth. He drives me completely bonkers sometimes, but is always good for a laugh. This has been a crazy, stressful, frustrating, sometimes frightening, wonderful, exciting, magical, little marriage adventure we've been on the last seven years. I guess it's his turn to be the patient, and my turn to get him through! I love you Grant.
