30 meals in one day......not quite there yet!

January is such a blahhh month! It's cold, smoggy, everyone's sick...... It's a good thing it's almost over! I hope everyone's getting through it okay.

I'm trying something new and I thought I'd share. Every month I am setting aside one whole day to make a bunch of freezer meals. A friend lent me a book called "Dinner is Ready" by Deanna Buxton and it gives some great tips. The goal is to make 15 different meals and double them so you end up with 30 meals in your freezer. I did a bunch before Christmas and it was so nice to have something to grab and reheat quickly. Benefits...more time, you can do something else while dinner is reheating, There's usually leftovers for lunches too, I can even leave instructions for Grant to reheat them, Grocery shopping is simpler for the rest of the month, and eventually I hope it will save us a lot of money too.

So yesterday was the day I set aside, and this time I invited my sister Michelle. It was a little more chaotic with the two of us, and we were also preparing a third set of meals for my mom. We had to take care of the babies on top of it all. I think we got through about 4 meals x 3, so a dozen, and one ended up on the floor. Not as successful as my first attempt, but it was a learning experience, and a lot more fun to have some company. I think the next time we try it, we will do better. You do have to be super organized to pull this off and it's going to take some practice. And I think we'll make sure we have a Daddy/Babysitter to take care of the kids. But it's definitely worth the effort and I'm going to keep trying!

I can only imagine how chaotic that must have been trying to make meals and watch two little kids at the same time. I want to know how one ended up on the floor. It sounds like a funny story.

I bought a freezer last year and really got into this stuff before having Gracie. I would LOVE to join in the fun! OAMC cooking is genius!

A good idea: 3 people take a different recipe each, make 4 dishes of it, keep 1 and swap the other 3.

I especially appreciate freezing now, as a single girl. Would love to swap ideas and meals! I have some GREAT ONES!!!

Sounds intriguing. Maybe I'll have to try it.
